KINESIOGENETICSApplying genomic research to achieve higher fitness levels.

While the field of kinesiogenetics (exercise and sports genetics) is in its infancy, there has been a great deal of research over the years that influenced the selection of genes and fitness associations, which BodySync targets in its DNA Fitness™ Assessment. Genetic research into sports and exercise (kinesiogenomics) began about forty years ago. BodySync developed its DNA Fitness™ assessment based on ground-breaking research and an increasing number of peer-reviewed studies. This put BodySync in the forefront of a small number of companies worldwide to provide a practical kinesiogenetics product to physicians, fitness trainers, and individuals.

Gene/Fitness Variables
Studies have shown that responsiveness of various individuals to exercise training is often inherited, indicating the importance of genetic factors. Research also shows that certain genetic variations may determine the magnitude of an individual’s response to the reduction in glucose, blood pressure or cholesterol that occur during exercise. BodySync’s primary university clinical studies focus on these gene/fitness variables, as well as on the potential impact certain genetic variations can have on VO2 max capacity, fat absorption, blood flow, HDL levels, muscle recovery and growth capacity, homocysteine levels, and more. To further validate these points of connection and forge potential new gene/fitness associations, BodySync will continue to apply genotyping to clinical exercise interventions, evaluate peer-reviewed studies, analyze existing customer fitness data, and work with fitness trainers and healthcare professionals to further the understanding of genetic fitness.
