BodySync is advised by leading experts in their respective fields who have served
as members of its Scientific, Research and Technical Advisory teams since the company’s
inception and have made significant contributions to the evolution of BodySync.
Scientific
BodySync Chief Science Officer, Dr. Pauline Gee oversees operations for the
company’s wholly owned, CLIA-certified genotyping lab and provides scientific leadership
on all scientific activities for the company. Dr. Gee’s responsibilities also include
scientific test research and new test product development – from inception to technical
sales support. Dr. Gee’s equity and time investments in BodySync have been critical
to attaining and maintaining CLIA compliance at BodySync’s lab from its inception.
Before joining BodySync, Dr. Gee served as Chief Technology Officer for a pioneering
nutrigenetics company, where she was responsible for lab operations and IT and technical
support of technology commercialization, including: QC/QA; vendor/service provider
relationships; technical management of test product distribution channels; validation
studies for regulatory compliance; in-house lab facility build-out; CLIA registration
and inspection; and CLIA lab certifications. Dr. Gee received her BSC in kinesiology
and marine biology and PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology from Simon Fraser
University. Her doctoral thesis in neurochemistry was awarded a Canadian Medical
Research Fellowship, which helped support her post-doctoral work at Stanford and
UC Berkeley, where she developed and patented a “mutagenicity” test.
Medical
Dr. Michael Bauer, MD, (http://www.tissueconsultant.com/),
BodySync’s CLIA/Medical Director (Founder, M.D. & Associates) began work in Clinical
Pathology at Loma Linda University Medical Center and went on to complete a fellowship
in Transfusion Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. During this training, he
gained valuable experience in clinical laboratory testing and laboratory administration.
Dr. Bauer has been a consulting physician since 1994 and is certified in Clinical
Pathology, Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine, as well as being a Tissue Banking
specialist. Dr. Bauer currently acts as Physician of Record for BodySync, as well
as for other leaders in the Personalized Medicine business.
Research
BodySync’s Scientific/Research Director and Principal Investigator for Clinical
Trials, Dr. Michael Goran, PhD, (http://www.goranlab.com/)
has enjoyed a distinguished career, consisting of the following prestigious positions
and ground-breaking research endeavors: University of Southern California Keck School
of Medicine Professor of Preventive Medicine, Physiology, Biophysics and Pediatrics;
Dr. Robert C. and Veronica Atkins Endowed Chair in Childhood Obesity and Diabetes;
Director of the Center for Transdisciplinary Research on Energetics and Cancer;
Director, Childhood Obesity Research Center (CORC), as well as a host of honors,
including: Oded Bar-Or Award for excellence in obesity research from The Obesity
Society (2009); Interdisciplinary Research Fellow from the University of Southern
California (July 2002); Lily Award from the North American Association for the Study
of Obesity for research in pediatric obesity (October 2001); Norman Kretchmer Memorial
Award for research in childhood nutrition from the American Society for Clinical
Nutrition (April 2000); President's Award for Excellence in Teaching and Mentoring,
School of Health Related Professions, University of Alabama at Birmingham (May 1999);

Genomic Nutrition
BodySync works with a number of integrative and functional medicine Dietitians with
combined decades of experience in nutritional systems biology, nutritional genomics
clinical study and commercial genomic nutrition product development.
The BodySync genomic nutrition team handles the integration of the company’s core genotyping
and bioinformatics technologies with client/partner nutrition programs,
including: emphasis on national and international integrative nutrition therapy in practice,
education of healthcare professionals on the assimilation of nutritional genomics in practice,
and genetically-guided nutrition product and service design. BodySync's Genomic Nutrition team
is responsible for directing a number of high-profile clinical research and product development
programs focused on the genetic aspects of inflammation, cardiovascular disease and weight management.
BodySync’s strategic Science, Research, Technical and Genomic Nutrition affiliates work
hand-in-hand with executive management, genetics test lab personnel, IP solutions lab personnel,
as well as with a consortium of web-based MIS, back-end programming, database management,
and data center professionals employed by BodySync nationally and internationally.
